Imposter Syndrome Resolved

Imposter Syndrome

Imposter syndrome can use a lot of your energy and headspace when you forget that we’re all playing a character.

Nobody is “stuck” with the way their character shows up on stage.

Each scene of this play of life, work and business is full of twists and potential leaps in consciousness.

But the character is not who you really are.

All the while you think it is, you suffer.

The most freeing experience on the “finding you” exploration is seeing that you can play your character fully…

…whilst knowing that you are the one doing the playing, not the character.

Your character is a moment-to-moment creation and expression of life.

Like a musical, film or any piece of artwork.

Like your business if you’re a founder. Or your team if you’re a leader.

So you‘re never stuck!

That’s a warm shower of relief for anyone who is experiencing imposter syndrome, or mental health issues.

Nobody is their diagnosis or trapped in their current experience.

If we can see this for ourselves and then show this to others struggling, the current patronising approach to mental health at work (and in general) will become a thing of the past.

Yeah you are an imposter, so am I.

Yeah, sometimes we need to learn more in order to play certain roles.

But seeing that for what it is, is what makes doing life and business so intensely fulfilling.

Next week we will begin our new series: ’Uncovering the myths of mental health’.
