I Don’t Deserve This

Recently, a client came to me saying that he ALWAYS thinks he‘s not enough.
I don‘t deserve this
I don’t deserve this. I’m not enough.

This is a common theme in the human experience.

At some point neural pathways fire together in a way that says: “I’m not as good / intelligent / beautiful / kind (insert yours) as I should be / as other people”.

This often happens when we are tiny, and we innocently play that song on repeat and keep writing new verses for the rest of our lives.

What if an entirely different song is always possible NOW, and now is enough?

Recently, a client came to me saying that he ALWAYS thinks he’s not enough. When we began to explore, we uncovered a feeling of wholeness in the moment, which he saw was also a source of great wisdom and fresh experience for him. He saw that by trying to “get over the problem of never feeling enough”, he was overlooking all that was already there.

And that it would be VERY interesting to look more in that direction…

His fear: Does that mean bypassing his pain or sitting around and doing nothing?

Quite the opposite. It’s listening to the pain and doing what is called to be done.

No longer fearing the “I’m not enough” song.

Remaining open to being surprised by an entirely new melody at any moment…
