Mental Health at Work IS HEALTH. Separating the two is misleading

100% of your experience of life is being generated from the inside-out from moment to moment (This includes the physical!). You’re always psychologically-spiritually OK and safe (Whatever the current content of your mental and physical experience).
Mental health at work

Burn out with ’mental health issues’ or get seriously ill and THEN you can have some time off…

Burnout has become such a thing because it’s almost like we can’t give ourselves (or our employees) the permission to take some time off until our/their bodies are massively protesting.

We see physical health and mental health as two separate phenomena… but they couldn’t be more intertwined.

Descartes’ Mind-body dualism gave rise to science treating the mind and body as separate, if related, entities.

This helped us to understand the mind as more than simply the physical brain but the seat of consciousness, the soul (The original meaning of the Greek word psyche is “soul, mind, spirit”).

BUT it took us away from the understanding that ultimately, the mind and body are experiencing as ONE in any moment, as long as an organic creature is alive.

In fact, “mind” and “body” are merely concepts to try and make sense of our experience.

In subtractive psychology, we look empirically at universal facts that govern our experience of life.

These facts are:

  • 100% of your experience of life is being generated from the inside-out from moment to moment (This includes the physical!)
  • You’re always psychologically-spiritually OK and safe (Whatever the current content of your mental and physical experience).

To express this simply:

Your body can always tell you, in real-time, what your mind is doing.

Because the body and mind are one (mind is far more than your thinking).

The solution to your tension, stress, overwhelm, aches and pains, addictions, habits, illnesses is within your mind-body that is designed to tend towards health and healing.

When you work with it.

When you understand it.

When you listen to it.

When you misunderstand how it works (as many mental health interventions do) and you are in constant resistance, your body will keep protesting until the protest becomes SO LOUD that you will give yourself, or your employees, some time off.

You really do not need to wait for that.

Why would you? We are here to thrive not to survive.

Start today by taking a few moments to feel your body and get curious about what it is saying to you…
