How Is Your Self-Esteem?

If you want to know who you really are, at some point you’ll look around and see: HAha! There’s an entire beach of sand around me! (and countless other beaches).
How is your self-esteem?

How is your self-esteem?

Have you often classified yourself or asked to be classified?

Through personality and strengths tests.

Archetypes. Values.

By pinning down a developmental disorder. A mental health diagnosis

Defining yourself as an ambivert with low self-esteem.

Affirming yourself as an amazing business leader, and a selfish, eternally guilty parent…

Aaah!

The list can and does go on.

Sand castles built within the same patch of sand to reprepresent “me and my life”.

You then think that those sand castles ARE your life and get scared if one gets knocked down.

So you arm yourself up with tools and techniques:

NLP, meditation, strict exercise and diet routines, CBT… anything and everything out there in a mad frenetic attempt to guarantee that those sand castles never get washed away.

If you want to know who you really are, at some point you’ll look around and see:

HAha! There’s an entire beach of sand around me! (and countless other beaches).

You tire of categorisation and the need to compare yours and others’ sand castles.

Even a “positive” ego (lots of thoughts about how you’re better than everyone else) severely limits the realm of what you can experience and the impact you can have.

When you’re genuinely called to reconnect with yourself, at some point you start to question everything you’ve ever been told and thought about yourself.

Everything.

Otherwise you’re never really present to what is showing up fresh…

…to the beaches of possibility in life and business beyond your repetitive brain patterns.

This can feel disorientating at first.

You may even experience a grieving-process “What’s the point of anything?”

Missing the apparent stability of who you thought you were and the constant meaning you gave to everything.

You believed that your sandcastles were your security.

Now you start to see: What if that belief makes them sand prisons?
