Self Development is Missing the Point

Companies use a lot of resources on helping people to understand and “control” their conditioned psychology and behaviour. Instead of encouraging them to explore their potential beyond the conditioned mind.
Self development ocean

Self development is missing the point.

We need fewer egos at work meetings. Not highly developed ones.

We need more practical and natural learning. Not rigid personal development plans.

We need less categorisation: “He’s a red”, “she’s a yellow”.

Companies use a lot of resources on helping people to understand and “control” their conditioned psychology and behaviour.

(To understand and “control” the waves on the ocean).

Instead of encouraging them to explore their potential beyond the conditioned mind.

(To understand and get immersed in the ocean itself) .

That is the space where lasting shifts and wins happen. It is the realm of genius.

If instead, you have everyone focusing on themselves and “working on my self-confidence / self-esteem” etc, all you get is very inward-focused and busy-minded team members.

This is a barrier to communication, creativity and people’s best performance.

Even helping people to create a “work-life balance” plan falls short if team members think that plan will automatically make them more relaxed and energetic.

Ongoing calm, clarity and energy come from that place beyond psychology, from the ocean.

Understanding and exploring that ocean brings out the best in teams.

Not self development.
